THE CHILL

Pitter, patter, heard the rain,
Clouds have covered up the sun,
But as the tears from heaven fall,
I see mouths open one by one.

First the daffodils take drink,
Leaving droplets for the rose,
And soon the tulips have joined in
To take a sip from heaven's hose.

The many trees seen playing pig,
As their trunks take up the rain,
And now are seen sprouting their leaves
As they dress no longer plain.

As for me, I don't rejoice,
The rain keeps me inside,
And the sun behind the clouds
Causes me to hide.

When tomorrow finally comes,
And I trust it will,
I will frolic in the sun
And join the springtime thrill.

But until then...the chill.
