TO REACH PAST THE VEIL

Eyes yearn to see them once again,
To place my hand against their cheek,
To say the words I love you so…
Reaching through time…ghosts I now seek.

I toss some memories aside,
For as I reach, some pain I clutch,
And yet to hold them once again…
I’d take the pain for one more touch.

My arms too short and eyes are blurred,
I cannot reach nor see no more,
And time won’t turn its face for me
To once more see them at my door.

The heart won’t hear that corpses won’t rise…
At least not ‘fore God’s trumpet’s heard,
And so I’ll seek and eyes wills strain…
For their face to view through my windowpane.

Reaching through time…
Reaching through time.
