TELL ME A STORY

When I lay my head to sleep,
Please don’t tell me to count sheep,
I hate their cries of Baaa, Baaa, Baaa,
That is no way to fall asleep.
And please don’t say to take a pill,
They always leave me tired still,
I wake up groggy and ill sorts…
I hate those pills that leave me ill.
A nursery rhyme, a tale instead,
Please spin me a yarn beside my bed.
Make leprechauns and tiny fairies
Dance inside my tired head.
The story needs a happy ending,
Make me feel it’s not pretending.
Tell me a story of make believe
One that shows a new beginning.
