DARKNESS AWAKENS

Darkness awakens my need for the light

And shows my desire to be free from the night.

It tells me it’s someplace I don’t wish to stay,

An escape from the darkness, my goal for today.

The darkness awakens the state of my soul,

And shows me my need to, again, become whole.

It sheds light on the depth I’ve sunken within,

And tells me in darkness, I never can win.

The light is the brightest when darkness is o’er,

When out from the dark, I climb out once more.

It awakens in me the place where I’ve been,

The depth of the darkness I found was within.

Darkness awakens my need for the light,

Freedom from darkness that gives my soul fright.

I’ll reach for the light and do it today,

To be in the darkness, I don’t wish to stay.
