THE STONE
Fear of failure tied me to the stone…
I saw the rainbow dreams had woven,
But now … “never more” cries the raven.
What I could have been… remains’ unknown.
Feet cemented to the cold hard ground,
I failed to reach and too soon dreams died…
Paralyzed, my wings stood at my side.
My dreams tied to stone have not rebound.
What if baby birds were such as I
And their confidence they failed to grow…
The bright blue sky, they would never know.
Rainbows viewed from ground…not from on high.
Self-clipped wings… dreaded fear of failure,
Don’t let this curse be your own taboo.
Kick the stone beneath that hinders’ you,
Spread wide youthful wings…let dreams allure.
