SMILING IN A STORM
There are many souls that I admire,
Those with a strength that I see grow,
While they’re walking upon the shards
And facing trials, daily know.
I look upon them and I see
Courage beyond what I have known;
They hold their heads up, walk on by,
And seldom do I hear them moan.
Their strength must come from up above,
For what I’ve witnessed seems to mean
No common man who walks this earth
Could stand alone with what I’ve seen.
A hand must hold them I can’t see
For through their sorrow hold their joy,
Of knowing what they know...they know,
That heartache will not soul destroy.
When life is great and all uphill,
To see people smile is the norm,
But none do I admire most…
Than those seen smiling in a storm.
