To show a deep abiding faith,
Does one need to show a smile,
And never show the downside
Of life the whole meanwhile?
If we voice our desperation,
Does it mean our faith is none?
If we seem to see the darkness,
Does it mean, we’ve not the Son?
When heartache overwhelms us
And we feel the need to cry,
Does it show our lack of faith,
If we ask the question, why?
Can a Christian, seeped in sorrow,
Show salvation’s saving grace;
Is it only through the sunshine
That your love for God they trace?
Have you stopped to remember
That even Christ experienced lows,
And as blood flowed from His brow …
We saw the thorn upon the Rose.
