YOUTH

Kaleidoscopic dreams and visions
With reckless abandonment
And delusions of lasting love and romantic fantasy.

Innocence, still believing in their fellow man
For not yet have they suffered the betrayal
Of trusting with their naivete.

Too young to yet fear death
Or experience its’ heartbreaking reality
For invincible is the youth in their virility.

Rainbows still bring hope of a pot of gold
And wishes granted with the find of four-leaf clovers
Oh, but oh ...
How quickly they must grow up in this present world.
