IF TODAY WERE YESTERDAY

I’d lope across the open meadows,
Like a colt with mane in sway,
A yellow sun shining on my back…
If today were yesterday.

You would see a heart with gaiety,
Hair that wore a small bouquet,
Eyes sparkle brightly with newfound love…
If today were yesterday.

You would often find me in dreamland,
Youthful mind would be at play,
Romantic fantasies found weaving…
If today were yesterday.

I would hear my heart still sing aloud,
Nowhere found the color gray,
Springtime in me seen springing with joy…
If today were yesterday.
