FADING FOOTPRINTS
Somewhere deep, I know inside,
Is the one I used to be,
But I seem to run and hide
From the one today I see.
I struggle hard to now see me
The one inside seen yesterday,
And it’s harder now to be
The one I see within today.
Yesterday I flew with wings
And believed that I could soar,
But the years bring many things
To clip wings and close the door.
I lumber on two legs that creep
Along this road I used to sprint,
And it is hard now not to weep
For yesterday’s fading footprint.
