A POET’S WALK
I've walked the dark valleys that most poets know
And searched for the light that shone deep below.
I've sailed stormy seas with no land in sight
And wrestled with demons that haunted the night.
I've also walked pathways that led to the light
And watched as the spirit in me took flight.
I've overcome mountains and tripped over stones,
Faced life with courage and feared the unknowns.
I've been to the place where poets are found,
A visionary place where dreams all abound,
I've watched them chase rainbows where none were in sight,
And where there was darkness,
I've seen them bring light.
I've joined in their frolic and shared in their tears
And walked the path with them as they rolled back the years.
I've watched them paint rainbows and visions of light
And live out their passions and dreams in their write.
I've watched as they challenged their talents in rhyme
And stood in amazement at talents sublime.
I count myself privileged to be such as they,
While writing my prose in my own humble way.
