LITTLE ROSEBUD
Youth’s a rosebud yet to open,
A rose with future bloom,
A baby eagle not yet flown…
A much less cluttered room.
It still allows the mind to dream,
The spirit remains free,
No shackles from the past to bind…
The heart holds no debris.
Linger in your youth, dear child,
Hold fast to rainbows there,
Do not allow your dreams to fade…
To reach for stars…please dare.
And when you see yourself in bloom,
Don’t fail to see God’s hand,
A rosebud that has opened wide
Is to the Lord seen grand.
I pray your heart will feel the words
That flow from off the pen…
The nakedness within the poet
That let’s you see within.
May darkness never enter you
That causes blooms to wilt,
Youth is but a rosebud…
A yet unfinished quilt.
